Osprey Marina

Continuing north, the weather again became almost unbearable hot. I have decided that when I get this hot, I am going to either hose myself down with the outside shower located on the stern or jump in the water. Since the area that we are traveling in today is really swampy, I used the stern shower. This area reminds of us both of the Tenn-Tom Waterway in Alabama. The channel is a narrow long river with swamp trees growing immediately along the shore.

Located on a secluded bay off the ICW Osprey Marina is just outside of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. This place has to be the best kept secret on the ICW. Since our budget is tight, we did not think that we would be able to stay in a marina until we reached Carolina Beach. But upon investigating Osprey Marina, we discovered that the rate is $1 per foot = $32 per night for us with no electricity surcharge. Since I was so hot all day long, the Lolligag's purser (me) decided that we could afford to stay one night in order to sleep with air conditioning. Also, their diesel fuel price is the cheapest we have seen in a long time. To our further delight, upon arriving at the marina we found the most friendly and accommodating staff that we have met thus far on the trip. The entire facility was spotlessly clean with an onsite grill for burgers or breakfast. To my sheer delight, Mark discovered a goat farm located just down the road. I do dearly love little goats!

Just when we thought it could not get any better, we had a surprise visitor join us. He/she just stayed right by our boat the entire time. Then as we were getting ready to leave, the dockmaster gave us a huge bag of freshly picked cucumbers from his garden. Certainly this is a place to stop on our return trip.
