These pictures were taken by me on Thursday, November 1,2007 just north of Demopolis, Alabama. We heard his Pan Pan distress call but we were about an hour north of his location on the Tenn-Tom and therefore could not reach him before the Coast Guard could get to him. The boat is a Grand Banks 36 foot trawler. It struck a large rock while traveling at about 8 knots.
The boat was hauled out of the water and brought to the Demopolis Yacht Basin for repairs. We have spoken to the captain and crew of this vessel and everyone is fine except for some bruises and soreness. There are several holes in the hull and the props are shot. They anticipate having the boat fixed and back in the water in about two weeks.
